Horological Meandering

Thank you very much for your thoughtful reply! :)

It is the watch that probably defines my collecting ethos 100% - no matter the brand, when the watch itself is a design that speaks to me I really like it above many other bigger names. Apart from some watches with sentimental value (gifts from my loved ones or family heirlooms) this would be the last watch I would sell of my collection if I had to.
The Marvin Flying Dutchman is just one of this rare designs where I think they got everything right and it is very rare as well. Paul Newman Daytona, Rolex Milsub, etc. - if you have the money they are readily available. Try to find another one with this exact dial design - quite an impossible task. This is also a factor that makes this watch so desirable and interresting for me - knowing that I am one of very few people in the world that have this exact model in their collection.
That said, I also love some of the more common "classics" such as the Submariner, Speedmaster, Datejust etc. and have them in my collection as well. The Flying Dutchman just feels more special to me for a fraction of the price.
