The Black & White of LINDE WERDELIN

Beginning of this new year, the white and black models of the LINDE WERDELIN pieces landed in Singapore - The White Watch and the Hard Black II.

Below are some quick snapshots of the two models ....

Starting with the The White Watch from the 3 Timer Collection.

From LINDE WERDELIN's material, the White Watch is created due to numerous requests and feedback from their clientele for a lady version of LINDE WERDELIN. The new LINDE WERDELIN for Ladies dimension could not be altered as the instruments must still fit onto the watch, in case she skis or dive !

The team decided to use the white theme. Is white the new black? Possibly. The long awaited white iPhone 4 takes forever to come out, and in the golf arena, white is in causing an uproar for the demand of new White Drivers like the Cobra's Limited Edition ZL Driver then followed by the Taylormade Rossa Ghost putters and now the Taylormade R11 Driver. The latest I read today, Richard Mille has a new 'golf watch" RM038 sports tourbillon which would be on Bubba' Watson, current longest drive on the PGA tour.

I digressed but I do not think this watch should be tagged as the female version of the LINDE WERDELIN but would say a softer colour which is more suitable for the Lady segment. To be more lady-friendly, matching details like white filled markers on the bezel and screws are added. The most important of all, to ensure comfortable daily wear and the White Watch seats snugly on slender wrist, thinner and softer pointed calf strap is used instead of their thick leather straps which is also for most Asian guys.

3 Timer enable tracking of three timezones.

All around case is of brush-finishing except for the angled facets/chamfers which are gloss finished.

Hour markers on bezel and the screws are filled with white ink.

Pretty superb skill to keep the edges in high definition with two types of polishing at different polishing angles.

Light green, near white SuperLuminova coating on the rhodium plated markers to match the colour theme ...

Upon charged ...

Soft pointed leather strap ...

Solid screw-in caseback with the serial number engraved and housing inside is automatic ETA 2893-A2.
Water resistance rating to 300m.
Limited to quantity of 51 pieces.

Next is the tough cookie Hard Black II from The One Collection.

This is one cool watch, and for those who prefer complete matt surface, this could be your option.

The Hard Black II, steel case is annealed at high temperature to harden the steel before the DLC (Diamond Like Coating) process which further increase the hardness of the case ( about three times harder than steel) for scratch-proof.
The effectiveness of the DLC was 'accidentally tested' by one of our friends here, RahulR. His Hard Black II smashed onto the marble floor and the casing still looked new! Please click here to read his narration.

Let's have a look at this stealth-watch ...

All surfaces are matt finished including the hands!

The stitching on the straps seem to glow too!

The printed markers on the rehaut ring does not glow, only the SuperLuminova coated markers (on the dial) and hands do.

Superb clarity at most viewing angles with the anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal.

Perhaps this may be interesting. The lead-in of the straps( into the lug-areas) seemed to be matt too, blending seamlessly with the matt DLC case.

Resolution of edges still remain sharp after DLC.

Dial surface and hands are matted.

Solid caseback with serial number engraved, likely to be either DLC or PVD, housing an automatic ETA 289 –A2.
Limited to production of 88 pieces.

Several wrist-shots on a gentleman ...

At that moment of the shoot, no lady was around, so a gentleman stood in.

The White looks good on his wrist as the design of the LINDE WERDELIN case is macho.

I could see wearing the white dial but not on the white strap. BTW, isn't filling the hex nuts with white paint a little odd? If I am not mistaken, the hex nuts are functional and have to be removed to change the strap. I would think that with one strap c...
