Horological Meandering

The verdict is in! I went for the 35, here’s why

Pictures later! I’m in the midst of moving.

At the AD, I spent 1/2 hour with the 35mm and 1/2 hour with the 38. I walked around the store, posed in front of mirrors, got a feeling of the strap, the shift of the watch under the Brooks Brothers Oxford cloth shirt sleeve as I moved, the feeling when I bent my wrist. Could I say this to anyone but other WIS’s?! smile.

The 38 was definitely the more comforting, familiar size. I remembered the predominance of forum votes for the 38. But for several reasons I went with the 35. I think my pictures of the 35 in the OP were unflattering. There are better angles. Also,

—I wanted a more vintage-y, 1950s-60s feel. And this captured the look more than the 38.

—When I think “vintage,” it’s not too small.

—Even with my aging eyes, I find the 35 quite instantly legible. “At-a-glance-legible, as they sometimes say.

—The 35 was more noticeably comfortable. This is partly due to the 35’s strap being narrower, less thick and less stiff.

Thanks for your comments, everyone. Pics tomorrow or the next day. After I unpack some shirts!
