Horological Meandering

This is a truly amazing watch. Fit and finish are excellent. Simple measurements 42mm wide, 14.5 mm high, 48mm lug to lug. Tritium hands (patina) and 12 o'clock markers, superluminova on hour markers. Hour markers are gold. Locking bezel requires pressure...  

With this nice Logo. From IWC padt, it has a nice tradition. A lovely Diving watch, Joe. And original, too, with its white dial. Definitely a good catch. Best, and congrats. Nicolas

Firstly thank you very much for sharing nice iac photos. Is the movement An in house version or just ETA??

IWC uses a 2892 KIT -- not an assembled ebauche. They replace: the gear train wheels and levers mainspring and barrel a 21 K gold mass is added to the rotor for winding efficiency all parts are finished and assembled by hand

But if I may ask, what is left of the ETA movement - if anything at all?

Base plate, bridges and partial rotor are some of the remaining items that come to mind....  

Although it far surpasses my technical or horological understanding I shall be doing my best for the next hour or two to get into the works. IWC in combination with the mighty ETA.is more than impressive! Thanks to you again, amerix

That is a very nice watch. I have a soft spot for the IWC autos of the 70s and 80s. Very clean - the sort of watch one can wear and use with comfort and pleasure. Enjoy. Ginger

Stand to be corrected, but I think LDC also wears an Aquatimer in Inception as well. BTW, great looking watch; wear it in good health. Cordially Mally

... which suggests either humidity having entered the watch at an earlier point, or massive quality problems of the components. Personally, I would suspect the first. This variant of the GST Aquatimer was presented in 1998, and disappeared from the catalo...  

Your insight has provided me with an additional level of comfort. This watch just came from a full service by Richemont and is under warranty. The previous owner (a trusted enthusiast) sent it to IWC for a service and they put it through the whole 9 yards...
