Horological Meandering

Hello everybody! Over at the JLC forum we have been discussing a lot about funky watches from the 70’s. Mostly Memovox but others as well. I guess I am somewhat guilty of raising the topic over and over again… Can’t help myself – love these big and bulky ...  

OK, one more! A JLC Master Mariner Ref 563-42 from the beginning of the 70’s. This is a big chunk of metal… Best Blomman...  

The 563-42 is the kind of watch that, if I put on my wrist, my wife will say "not with me"!! But I love this squareness. Cheers

I don't know why, bu these 871's somehow haunt me, make me smile: mirrors of a time - young we were.. Wish I had not missed one orange one last year, hope for a second encounter, again . But yours really is awesome, -- Thnx for your nice trio, BTW, Best, ...

Love the transition on this Seamaster from a round dial to the squarish cushion case.

. . . and yes, the Omega cal 1040 is based on the Lemania cal 1340.

Hi Looks cool. However, I think Bellmatics are like Memovoxes in one respect. Its better to stop at one - it'd take a lot of collecting to get the full range. Though fortunately if you want to they are a bit cheaper! Cheers JML

Brown was such a Seventies colour. Like the Longines as well - a little known diver from them.

I can't recommend cool 70's sport- watches enough! Affordable and highly addictive.

it is not black--it is very, very BLUE... and one of my all time favorite watches... acquired from the King. Here is one of HIS pictures of it, which I can never possibly improve upon. This is another watch I really need to share more about. This message ...

You have some wonderful examples of them - I think they are great looking watches from the period. Keeping my eyes peeled for one - especially with the crown at four.

Traveling so had to pull up an old photo top row - three Favre Leuba's, Arly bottom row - Tittoni, Movado, Zodiac, Favre Leuba Ginger...

Was this a regular production model? From what year?

This is a M7 from the 70's and this Spaceview 218 is not a regular production. Only a few is produced I guess. Herewith some more photos: Cheers, sc...  

So this is an earlier 218. Almost looks custom made. Really interesting. There's a story behind this one. What country was it purchased in?

Hello, Blomman, - always like that one, as you so well know.. As we appear to be mates for it, brothers in arms, though yours with that magnificent bracelet. So, yes - here is mine, also with some new strap, which uncreases it's funkiness, IMO. Ahh, yes, ...

Gives it another touch : - whereby the simple retro leather steap makes it going practically always, - the cool-blue has a somewhat dressier element, still relaxed I find, but more limited to combine with one's attire, IMO. Nevertheless, I enjoy this opti...

The first SO is not so big, around 40mm, the second one - the Chrono-matic, is jumbo size at 47mm!...

in the mid Seventies to the Spec of the German military. I think it may share a case with some Squale branded watches from the period as well. It's a cool chunky watch - thanks for the nice words.

OK, I will cheat a bit… This pair of E 861 is from the end of 60’s. One of the first Funky JLC’s. Best Blomman...
