Horological Meandering

In a watch shop in Paris, I could fall on one of them, the Rodania Royal Canadian Air Force Chronograph. To be compared with the almost similar Breitling " RCAF ". Similar size and movement and dial. The movement is the Valjoux 236, with hacking second. A...

with loads of character. Wouldn't mind having one of these in my collection.

Did they both provide the watches to RCAF concurrently? I am assuming it was merely their movement infused into the air forces' approved design or did one (or both) contribute to this?

Captain Darren Crabb is an authority on these, and has been known to frequent OF. He has authored a book on them published in November 2015 that is unfortunately difficult to find, but you may still be able to. They were made by Birks, Breitling, Candino,...

With a compétition caliber, this col de cygne….hmm very much my taste !

I still have the Breitling one in a very poor shape, with a repainted dial and wrong hands (and a movement that has seen better days). A project for another time 🤞🏻
