ouch! but it is what it is!
thanks for the replies.
the AD was upfront that he takes a handling charge and DB quoted for the cost of repair and the shipping charge.
It is expensive. I phoned DHL and Fedex, neither of whom would touch it and 2 others who wouldnt either (both of whom advertised themselves as specialists in high value transport.) the problem is the insurance. one of the companies insurance was 5% of the value of the item
The AD insures it for the cost of replacement from DB which is half the retail cost. i would have to insure for full retail replace or otherwise for 2nd hand replacement which i cant find.
that is the problem with having an expensive watch that has to go back to Geneva. next time its £50 each way on easyjet!
shipping cost - ouch!

I recently damaged my DB15 so took it to my AD. Quote comes back for epairs and service and DB doing some other bits and pieces free of charge which of course expensive but not unreasonable considering the watch What I wasnt expecting was the £450 EACH wa...
That seems wrong....

and those charges should be fought. AD's typically negotiate good rates with their shipping companies, including reasonable insurance charges. I would ask to see the invoice for the shipping of your watch and make them justify the charge. Bill

I thought the quote had to include EVERYTHING 9including shipping etc) under most european laws, so s to avoid unpleasant surprises. I doubt very much they can get away with that kind of nonsense legally. nick
