A date is not a problem, but without a date is not a problem either.
I can imagine a dial is better balanced when the date had left off.
I prefer pointer date, while it is more elegant to have a hand that show the date.
I am curious which LF they reserve for you.

along with directing light to the date display, are the reasons for the configuration of the date window according to Laurent. Balance and legibility are hallmarks of the brand.
