This is a riotous assembly of Speake-Marin masterpieces you have catalogued with your camera.

The dials are as different from each other as they are from any other watch on the market. One of the many things I love about Mr Speake-Marin's work is that he is not only a master watchmaker, he is also a great designer.

And, typically British. Irreverent, eclectic, audacious. The Vivienne Westwood of watch designers. I think Johnny Rotten should be wearing PSM.

I was at the booth on Tuesday doing my own little photo shoot when Peter's mobile phone rang. The ringtone: Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog". Yes, this is umistakeably an English watchmaker.

Hope to post the results of my pedestrian labours soon. In the meantime, keep up the good work, Don!

Of course Peter was proudly showing the watches with his new in-house movement. The first series of 20 will be delivered this year, some of them including a perpetual calendar....

Can somebody please tell me what the window is just above the 6 o'clock position on the second watch down? I think that the watch is a QP and was wandering whether it was the leap year indicator

It's a spherical moonphase.

If you look closely, you can see a suggestion of a crescent shaped dark area to the right. I think this may be the seam between the metallic and dark parts of the sphere. I'm pretty certain this watch is a QP but there is no leap year indicator on the dia...

In fact I think the moonphase might be a static metallic surface, over which passes some type of blocking screen mounted on a disc. Also note the letters "LY" in the upper left of the 12 o'clock subregister, and the little dot on the central cap over the ...  

So is there another hand (shorter) that points to the LY indicator?

Wondering how the leap year thing works... The cap is just a cap right?...so with the LY indicator there, is there a shorter hand (hidden underneath the month hand) that comes out when it is a leap year and points to the LP text? I would assume if this is...

The watches with the F 2012 movements come in 38mm or 42mm. Also, there have been 36mm versions as well. I think it took Mr. SM a while to warm to the 42mm size. But, I have seen him enjoy wearing the 42mm, a lot. I was initially drawn to the 42mm, but I ...

The perpetual calendar is just stunning, as is the chronometer (?). PSM has been busy. Congrats.

I like that all his designs meld traditional and modern elements. The new movement is lovely, and IMO the Marin-1 is a real watchmaker's watch. Quite possibly the Shimoda is my favorite of PSM's designs though. Every time I see the Shimoda with Chinese ch...
