Great watch and the parallax

This looks great! I really like the designs from Grönefeld. The dial seems to have a lot of depth and personally I think it’s great that they will also be making a stainless steel version. Not that it will be more affordable, but I like steel better than white gold.

Reading through the press kit, I think that parallax refers to the parallax error, which is a source of error in certain measurement systems. Basically it refers to the fact that since you may not be looking at the dial of the instrument (in this case the watch dial) directly from above, but a little bit from a side, then because of the distance from the hand of the instrument to the dial, the reading that you get is a little off. Let me try to explain better: you may think that the seconds hand is above the marker for 3 seconds, but you don't realize that since you are looking at the watch from the side, it is actually above the 4 seconds marker. Wikipedia does a better job than me at explaining this: en.wikipedia.org Parallax#Parallax_error_in_measurement_instruments

What they seem to have done here is to have the seconds hand running very close to the seconds track: in this way the parallax error is minimized. It’s a little bit like what you see on other watches where the tip of the seconds or minutes hands is slightly curved downwards, but I love what they did here by raising the seconds ring, which adds further depth to the dial.

Can’t wait to see some hands on pictures of this.

Thanks for the post!
