First of all, handmade shapes are simpler because you have to - obviously- machine them by hand, so circles or free shapes via Panthograph.
And why there needs to be transparency when it comes to handmade is quite simple: Would you pay the same price for a hand finished movement and 100% machined movement of both have the same finish? Most people would not and thereby the price of a hand finished piece is justified by the time and manual skill that went into the watch. Same goes for the production method ranging from CNC manufactured movements, over partially hand made movements up to fully handmade movements. And even there, the producer needs to be transparent in regard to rubis or Saphire parts.
It’s not an easy topic especially as producer obviously want to push towards higher prices and many collectors seem to think that their Patek is a handmade watch...
