More info from Habrings...

ingmar made an interesting point in regards to the blued hands, whether they're heated or chemically treated.

I've been informed by Maria and Richard that "the hands are of course thermally blued, by the boss herself" smile Here's a couple of photos of the boss at work wink

Wait! There's more to this!

"Only heat blueing allows to vary the colour a little in order to have a better contrast in opposite to the other hands and the dial. So your blue hands are a little lighter than on our other watches where the blue hands only standing against a f.i. white dial."

I'm pleasantly surprised by the extra attention to detail that Maria and Richard put into blueing hands to a shade that best complement the other hands. I find it very thoughtful of them to make sure the best result is achieved for every little detail.

As for the black markers and hands, they are galvanized. "But in addition the black oxide is secured with a transparent laquer (which makes the markers shiny) to avoid rubbing off the oxide."

This is one great benefit of working with the Habrings, that I get to learn so much about the parts of my watch come together!
