My personal ochs und junior

To me ochs und junior was a treasure of a watch company. Innovative, creative, eclectic, small, passionate, and friendly. I don't know what the future will hold, but I wanted to share some details of my purchase experience... I did not simply buy a watch. In my opinion, I collaborated with Beat to design one according to their company principals and guidelines and to include my ideas. My watch looks similar to a standard patina ochs und junior moonphase. But it deviates in two main ways. 1. The seconds hand is a metal composite - It actually is a patina brass hand that is brazed to a blued steel center disk. It is exactly what I wanted. Beat said they had never done this before but was willing to try (In spite of the heat-bluing troubles they had with the Ming moonphase watch case). We came up with a few backup ideas if the seconds hand I wanted couldnt be done. But it came out perfectly...And only I really notice that there is a perfect subtle blue earth floating above the middle of the watch dial-- blink and youll miss it. And 2. my watch is not automatic -- it is handwound. I do not know of any other ochs and junior that is. But Beat was willing to obtain a Sellita 215 movement (Eta 2804 equivalent) and also provide a special case that winds with the crown in the 0 position instead of screwing down. These two changes made the watch perfect in my opinion. I cannot imagine ochs und junior without Beat and his laser focus on customer satisfaction. I would say with the departure of Beat the company has lost a huge asset. But I wish them well...

(See the blue...It is real and not just a reflection)
