ok... but this is not about

what process KV used to blue the hands of guiloche the dial, or any thing special he did with the escapement etc but, I think, as I read it simply, about how many pieces of this fine watch was made and if so, transparency I think will be (should be?) fully appreciated by at least the buyer side of the equation?

I'm neutral to this, not an owner, know a few owners so I do not care or am affected if the actual manufactured number was more than the 5 or 20 or 40 or whatever the magic limited number is supposed to be.  I also choose not to hypothesize too much into any dastardly reason for not telling, it is for me and some I suspect a few others, not a matter of life and death BUT that said.... I do subscribe to some of Thomas M's comment that if it is limited, then 1) there is nothing wrong about knowing what limited number is and 2) if a manufacturer says limted to X, then it should be X.  Less is ok, but not more.  Why? Because some (not all) may have bought on the premise that the LE has some value to them.  whether it really does or not is not the point here.

Now if the buyers chose to buy a LE piece without knowing what LE is then so be it... willing buyer, willing seller BUT I suspect most would have placed some premium in giving the seller the benefit of doubt and trust and if the number in this instance is big (and what the definition of big is here is not for me to decide), then I think some of the buyers will feel betrayed in some sense?
