Took a few minutes last night to fire off some shots -- all single exposures (that is, no stacking)... The D800e can't be beaten for sharpness, but I am still working on some interesting chromatic aberration issues with the Antiqua specifically. May be th...  

Not sure if its me or is the white balance a tad off. Do you normally perform bracketing for your macro shots ? Great hots nonetheless. Yes, the D800E is touchable for sharpest !

One issue that I have is that my photo monitor (a calibrated Samsung LCD) nonetheless seems to give a somewhat "warmer" (not to mention brighter) rendering of images than shows up online (especially when viewed on my laptop). I did a fair amount of post-p... 

I also try to improve myself in taking pictures and thus have been reading much about it lately. Concerning calibration issues, I'm sure you're already aware of the need to calibrate the screen you work on and, for someone who really wants to do everythin... 

I was looking again at these photos on my home monitor vs. iPad vs. laptop, and each looks a bit (to a lot) different! I will certainly try to apply the lessons to which you referred me. I do find that this is not an everyday watch, but I do wear it more ... 

I'm just new in the photo world but I've been reading around magazines and books to learn much as I can on the subject and I found an article about this color calibration mater. As there are many displays around a picture (scanner, camera, screen, browser... 

This watch has the little something others don't have. When you see it, you may think it is well... very strange. Then you put it on your wrist and it has something magic! Thanks for the gorgeous pics! Fx

Have to second Gary on that, I have had the fortune to try the Classic, Trio and Antiqua. Am sure it was done consciously, they all feel great and right on the wrist !

It is an absolutely stunning piece and so distinctive. However, until Mr. Halter hires a famous actor or sports star to say he likes the watch, I just don't know if I can trust my own feelings about it. By the way, does anybody know if brand ambassadors g... 

I am of course a legend in my own mind, as we say here in the US -- and of course there are long-time PuristS who have been big champions of Vianney's work (including Bernard and Amery, to be sure). Don't think any of us are big sports stars, though :-) B...

I am quite flattered to report that Vianney has asked me whether he might use some of these images on his website -- a first for me! Big smiles on this end, for sure. As for Vianney's next piece, he has been hinting that one is on the way, but no details ...

are terrific. The first because of the beautiful lighting throughout the whole watch, is extremely balanced. Then the angle gives it just that bit of dynamism that provides a path for the eye to wander through the different portholes of the Antiqua... ver... 

Thank you very much for your kind comments -- made more interesting to me by the fact that your comments on the first photo almost exactly matched those from my instructor, who thought that picture was "by far" the best of all those I have sent to him. Yo...

Wonderful! Imagine, in 1998...I could not convince a doctor friend to buy one for $70,000 USD (then) brand new, in platinum. I told him, it would make him a good 10% returns if he did not want it in 10 years.

10% per year or over the 10 years? I think leaving the money in the bank would have got him at least 1% per year? A platinum one sold at auction in 2009 and only sold for $86,500 (including the buyers commission), so after the seller would have received l... 

In Asia, or with the right retailers, who know of who is able to write cheques of $300,000 for a platinum Antiqua...used...and 99% con...it is absolutely no problem. Trouble is, these dealers keep their list of customers VERY secret. In say the same place... 

If the guy who bought it sold it for a 300-400% mark up. As you say it depends who is in the auction house/online etc at the time, there are always bargains to be had in auctions and also people getting carried away! The thing with most of these independe... 

Yes agreed on e low returns....was offered one RG in very Mint Condition, for Less than USD60k recently......

Does your friend/contact still have it? Where in the world are you? I will pay, no bargaining!
