and that’s the only thing a Spring Drive and a quartz movement have in common. To call the SD a hybrid isn’t accurate or fair since a quartz movement is powered by a battery and a stepper motor where an SD is powered by a conventional mainspring and gear train and will stop if not worn or wound exactly the same as a mechanical watch!
To be a hybrid surely would have encompass the driving mechanism of both being a battery/motor. The Rolex Oysterquartz you could perhaps describe as a sort of hybrid since that has a mechanical escapement, that’s similar in principle to a mechanical watch, and a proper gear train but the power is again provided by a battery and a stepper motor.
