What a patient move Mr. Spangles and a wonderful watch reward!
Jan 06, 2021,19:40 PM
I am so happy for you, I just bought my first RW Smith Series 2 with the same George Daniels escarpment, I feel like I’m in a class of my own as you have every right to feel as well. Enjoy your watch and the experience only a few luck souls get to have...Jim

The Charles Frodsham Double Impulse Chronometer Wristwatch: On The Wrist!
By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : January 5th, 2021-05:09
This came in just before New Year's and I wanted to share it with you. As you can see, I went with the 22k YG case. This was the first wristwatch to use George Daniels' double impulse escapement on Derek Pratt's suggestion and it is the only wristwatch to...
Beautiful!

Many congratulations! Best wishes Jon
Thanks! HNY!

Well done on a great acquisition!!
By: sham1 : January 5th, 2021-05:24
The watch was made for your wrist. My wrist is more than half an inch smaller so when I tried the watch on two years ago, it was too large despite the short lugs. Enjoy this very special watch which I consider to be one of the best time only watches on sa...
You mean you bought the watch without trying it on?!
By: sham1 : January 5th, 2021-14:59
Or maybe you did at a different venue? Either way you will enjoy visiting their small and only shop in London and the owners are a joy to converse with. Just beware that there are some old chronometers for sale that could prove very tempting especially no...
Yup, bought without seeing it in person or trying it on!
By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : January 5th, 2021-16:32
I happened upon info that the watch was in development and emailed Richard on the very day it turned out to finally be offered to the public!!! I was accidentally the first person to respond practically the moment the announcement went out! I think Richar...
Wow, I salute you!!
By: sham1 : January 5th, 2021-16:46
I guess having the right sized wrist helps making such a major decision.
Phwoar!
By: sham1 : January 5th, 2021-22:37
42mm Breguets?? I struggle to wear 38mm Breguets no thanks to their straight lugs. For Breguets, 34mm to 36mm is ok for my wrist.
So true!
By: sham1 : January 6th, 2021-07:05
But I prefer buying new and fortunately there still are a few good watches at 36mm and 37mm!
There are a few Breguets that fit the bill
By: sham1 : January 6th, 2021-16:47
but my favourite vintage looking watch would be the Murakumo by Kikuchi Nakagawa which at 36.8mm seems perfect in size. The dial, hands and numerals are a work of art in that price category. the 35.5mm 5930 which has been in the collection for years. I do...

Congratulation Spangles

Non superfluous, contained, functional, highly technical English luxury. Wonderful watch. HNY
Beyond-impressive.

Congrats, and excellent choice. I hadn’t picked up on the novel shock absorption system, and will try to read about it.

That’s some heavy artillery!

Love the clean esthetics, the symmetric movement architecture, the finishing. Excuisite! Enjoy! Daniel
Many thanks!

Congratulations on this special piece!
By: xiu laba : January 5th, 2021-08:16
Impressive both at the front and the back! An owner's review further down the road maybe to reveal to us less fortunate souls who didn't get to own this piece?
Same size wrist so good to know...
By: mdg : January 5th, 2021-09:48
...I wish it was 39mm since it's such a pure 'dress watch,' but we all face hurdles in life : ) I love the engraving on the movement. I would be torn between the Arabic and Roman numerals...
Kinda!
By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : January 5th, 2021-10:53
Well, 3/4. The case fits the ethos of the watch well. ...
Truly spectacular!

I have very few grail watches on my list, but this one resides above them all. Wear it in good health! Kind regards, Dan
Huge congrats.

Thats one stunning and gorgeous watch . Love it
¡Gracias!

I appreciate it! I'll venture outside!
By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : January 5th, 2021-16:28
I hope other folks can document visiting the gold foundry (which you can do to see your case assayed and stamped) as well as the manufacture visit. Well, Richard also offered to go have "pie and a pint" with me, so in better days I hope to do at least tha...
Congratulations

This watch has been on my mind for some time, it’s very understated compared to Roger Smith’s masterpieces. Could imagine it fitting into my quiet life a lot easier. You must be thrilled to finally have it on your wrist. Lots to unpack and appreciate in t...
Hey thanks!
By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : January 6th, 2021-05:24
For sure the WG or SS will go way under the radar. The movement is arguably more interesting than a RWS (which is a true masterpiece, as you say) and the escapement specifically is clearly horologically superior by a big step.
Superb. Not many of these in the wild.
By: darmatgre-1 : January 6th, 2021-14:57
Beautiful on both sides. I hope to be able to see one in the metal one day. In the meantime, keep posting scans! Darren

Great piece
By: Cozmopak : January 6th, 2021-21:22
One that is tempting me as well. I suppose without the need for lubricant, the movement probably doesn’t need to be serviced very often
Thanks, yes, that's one benefit.
By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : January 6th, 2021-21:26
Although, the gear train still needs lubrication, the escapement is completely free of it. As for servicing, the first service is free as Richard wants to see how everything is holding up under real world conditions. I have a feeling it will be quite a wh...
