NOT me but there are 2 schools of thought....
Sorry Anthony: it wasn't me who suggested that material for the case.
The 2 schools of thought are:
1) It should NOT be a plastic case because inappropriate use and disposal causes the floating problem.
2) It should be a recycled plastic case to highlight proper material disposal. Although, not enough IWC will be sold to make any dent in the problem.

Someone here said it before that the IWC Plastiki Ingenieur watch
should have a plastic case (I believe it was MTF?) instead of metal case. That would have been a perfect match for the Plastiki expedition. - AT

Is it beyond the boundaries of physics to make a "floating watch"?
We have seen ultra light watches...super light...but is it possible to make one less heavy/dense than water?
easiest way
would be to put cork "floaters" on a Ti-cased watch, they wouldn't even need to be that big, the entire thing could be smaller than an Egizano! Probably Mido should make it A
Is Plastiki enviromental friendly?
Since Plastiki is made of tens of thousands of PET bottles, will the process of constructing it pollute the air and water? Regards Ling
Plastiki is made of used, recycled PET bottles.
all the bottles are retrieved from dumps, they are not new bottles. - SJX
