I had the opportunity to get 1 via Mr Porter but I prefer the HODINKEE edition due to the size and the different case/look but the rake one is really nice too. I have a wallet made of the old leather and I didn't find the smell to be so negative but...it is still pretty strong also after years ! still you got a very cool piece and a nice complement to the HODINKEE one. I love the idea of collecting only the Mark collection because is very pure and special. Wear it in good health !

That's right, the JLC was made for only a few years (1948-1953) and less than 3,000 or so total made and only for the RAF and RAAF.
Compared to the IWC Mark 11 made from 1948 to 1981/2 and numbers of around 10,000+ have been bandied about.

Thanks Christian! The Mark watches are really classic and their design still looks modern 70 years on
As for the reindeer strap I think if I air it out for a few days and then maybe use some leather moisturizer the smell can be neutralized.
