For a traditionalist, it does seem a bit counterintuitive to make variations of this watch without one of its core defining characteristics, but that’s probably just me showing my age, haha.

For us (me) purist, an ingenieur should have magnetic protection. If not ,there are many choices of time only integrated bracelet watches, from low end to high end.

The Laureato 38 is definitely a great alternative.
I’ve personally opted for the grey dial Alpine Eagle. And if I had to choose one of these Ingenieur, I’d probably pick the titanium or the steel/black dial. For me, each of these watches is nice in its own way. The IWC is probably the most toolish looking...

A step in the right direction. Loosing the crownguards and very substantially improving the bracelet finishing quality would help.

But at least IWC has given the customers the choice between remaining faithful to the identity of the original watch or going for a more “trendy” variation… Best, Emmanuel
