Jaeger-LeCoultre

JLC Moonphase

I have to admit that I am not an expert in JLC watches,  My expertise is in Rolex and

Patek watches.  I was attracted to this watch because of its uncommon beauty.  I have to
agree, there are no similar references to find on the internet, no books to consult with similar examples.
All of you who responded seem to think this watch is probably a fake, but then if it is (which I am not 100% convinced) then
why was it produced at all?  This watch was most likely produced during a time when complicated watches were not highly
sought after?  If an artisan produced this fake, then why,  was it produced during a time when there wasn't a large
financial reward for doing so? Could it be possible that this was a prototype produced by
Jaeger, Longines-Wittanauer, or possibly Vacheron, all of whom had ownership or joint
ventures with Jaeger during the 1950's to 1980's?  I am not the expert in Jaeger watches, but it seems
to me that they didn't have the same type of quality and control systems that Rolex and Patek
had during the same time period.  Is it possible that Jaeger in Switzerland may not have
been in complete control, or have complete knowledge of what their US counterparts were
doing?  Maybe I am being naive, but despite the overwhelming responses, and overwhelming
lack of supporting evidence for this being a authentic watch,  there, in my mind is still a slight
glimmer of hope that this is something other than a fake.  For now, I accept your conclusions,
and I will enjoy wearing the watch.

I appreciate all the responses, and appreciate this forum.

Best regards,
Bob Lembkey
