Realizing mine is only a sample of one, and 58 years old, I have heard some reknowned Atmos experts note that the Atmos should run within 30-60 seconds per MONTH. Well, that is certainly doable, but NOT on a sustained basis, as paradoxically, the very trigger that provides the stimulus for the Atmos to self-wind, change in temperature, is also the variable versus which it has no means to compensate its pendulum.
Over the course of one full year of testing, my Atmos ran an average of +5 seconds per day, which it overall quite respectable and perhaps even impressive, with one week as good as +5.5 seconds for the WEEK. The absolute worst week was about +68 seconds, even that quite reasonable. If you run it fast, it's very easy to stop the pendulum after, for example, it's accumulated to say 2-3 minutes fast.
It is an awesome piece and respectable timekeeper, which to me, has a real Art Deco/futuristic look, and can outperform many mantel clocks of that era in terms of timekeeping.
