... and the watch is on its way to Switzerland for service including a new movement which I've requested..  The case was fogging significantly.. and the tourbillon slowing.  I stood before my AD's service manager and explained that the only moisture which could have come in contact with the watch would have come from washing my hands.  The service lady looked at me doubtingly as their technician pressed a silly-putty like compound against the tourbillon side crystal.  He yanked back on the putty and voilla' ..  the crystal popped off, to which the technician remarked (in a thick swiss accent) ""Ziss is not very good, zeh should glue ziss or zumsing" 

Very disappointing experience. I expected much better workmanship for a masthead piece like this. In addition the reverso ball-bearing clasp was loose so they'll have to replace/tighten that..  I will see the piece again in September or October.

Back to the Patek forum for me. That'll teach me to venture out.  smile

My second Tourbillon and first serious non-Patek. Bought number 42 of 500. I like this watch a lot already.. Getting up the courage to order the Gyrotourbillon 2 although one of the AD's I approached (not my usual AD) actually tried to talk me out of orde...

If I had a 5101, I know what I'd do with...I'd sell it to go on this Gyro II, my friend... The Gyro II is much more exciting, appealing and yes, horogically speaking, much more interesting. As for the finish, I'd say that the Gyro II is over the 5101, IMH...

I feel very lucky I can do it.. I never forget it... I will say its almost a full time job scouring for these pieces. You could easily pay tens of thousands (collective 100's of thousands) in premium if you don't spend your time buying right. It's a dance...
