As Abel says below, something special about these older examples. A touch of whimsy and not so serious can be a plus.

These older versions have a charm and lighthearted elegance that is not quite matched in today’s more serious looking watches. Vintage homages are everywhere, but the spirit of the times is hard to recapture.
