Great report, Dje!

 

I really enjoyed your write-up.  Your thoughts about the environmental impact of cars, and the future of our largely gasoline-based modes of transport is certainly timely.  My hope is that all car manufacturers, not just Aston, are making increased fuel efficiency and alternative fuels a huge priority in their R&D departments.

Today's Astons are some of the most gorgeous, sexy, cars on the road.  I'm lucky to live in a city where I get to regularly see a wide variety of them.  I like the muscular V8 Vantage, but it is the elegant DB9 that captures my heart most of all.  I think the collaboration between Aston and JLC is apropos considering the values that each company espouses (embracing their respective histories, while not being scared to push the limits of new technology, and wrapping the whole package -- be it cars or watches, in distinctive elegance with a hint of brawn).  I'm a huge fan of the products that both companies produce.

As for the new Amvox Racing, I prefer the white version.  The black is stunning to be sure, but it sacrifices just a hint of legibility IMO in service to its bold darkness.  The white version, to me, is just perfect!  I love the combination of colors and the presentation of the dial/subdials.  What a great watch!

So here is part 2 coming, named the black version! We've seen in part 1 the most glorious part of Aston Martin's racing history. Maybe we should remember that the racing history is not an ended book. This year Le Mans was again a great time for Aston Mart...

the outer side: is black with "sport" holes. is this leather or kevlar or something else? the inner orange side is suede or something else? anybody knows? (thanks in advance)

I love the feel of alcantara, and thought briefly about refitting parts of my car's interior with it, but then realized my money could be better spent on things other than jazzing up my little Acura coupe (Although, you wouldn't believe what the kids do t...

The rest of the strap is in Cordura, but when you wear it, it is very comfortable, and if you add the very light weight of the titanium case, you almost don't feel the watch on your wrist. Best, Nicolas

Hi, Apparently Lamborghini is working hard to improve its ecological performance. Porsche is supposed to later (and hopefuly sooner) launch an hybrid Panamera. I think BMW is working on it too, and Mercedes just launched an hybrid S400 that gets very good... 

Wonderful post, so hard to decide between the two versions...

Here in the US, it is the appearance that Gulf gas stations sell the lower grade gas since their prices, in general, are cheaper than Exxon, Mobil, or Shell. (I have no idea if Gulf gas is not as good but the "image" is that since prices are cheaper) Why ...

Hi Anthony, I don't know about Gulf products quality as they are not really sold in France! Regarding quality in the US, would you look just at the price? What I know is that Gulf is a legend in the car racing history! The Gulf colours are mythical, no le... 

Besides price, image is also a factor as well

In the US, the Gulf gas stations, in general, are old looking stations which do not have the clean look as of a Shell or Exxon gas station. And cause of this, the "image" of Gulf here in the US is not one of top tier, but mid or lower tier. Gulf may be we...
