I'm not sure how it could get any thinner considering the 2 springs + gong....
It is, literally, a "sandwich" of 2 movements put together.
If the gong could go around the outside of the movement, which would make the movement wider, that could flatten it.
But I agree, it's still a cool complication: QP + Reveil.
