I have always been attracted by both this watch..
...and the earlier 37mm version, but I feel both are spoiled by the hands. On the 37mm the hands were too thick and too short.
On this model I think JLC's attempt to make the dauphine hands slimmer is not a success - the circle at the centre and the little stub on the back look silly.
By way of comparison the hands on the VC Traditionelle small seconds is a much better example of how to do slim dauphine hands properly.

But I think I may be edging towards the original slightly more? The silver dial is a very clean, sober, and stealth look which suits the watch very well in my opinion.

Love being cool but would choose understated here hah :P That being said this is one of my preferred \'entry\' JLCs.
For blue dial, between that and this I think I would choose the MUT 40 Small Second personally.
And for the Reserve de Marche the silver dial. But who knows, the mind is a fickle thing :P On a side note today was the first day I also got to play with a friend's Geophysic Universal Time. This watch was a lot more convincing in the metal than pictures...
The real experience will help you to answer to this question. As for the Geophysic UT, it is a very good and nice looking watch.

Well, yes in some cases.
(In some cases you start with a silver dial and they release a black dial later and you just get pissed off, because the black Looks more cool and now you just bought the damned first one ;-)) BUT you are right. It is certainly is disturbing if it breaks ...
