I have had the chance to try both of them. As i consider them both "professional" or "tool" watches, thicknes is ok with me and i really think they look better when they are a little bit thick (think of the deepsea by rolex).
So thickness, after trying both of them, is not a topic at all. Both look good!
I love the function purely from a heritage point and how it makes the dial look, with the additional ring and pointer !

Memovox
no brainer, I'll pick the Momovox. Other brands also produces the date, but only a handful few make the alarm watch.
Both: Mariner Date + vintage Memovox. Will cost less than just a Mariner Memovox.
And there are a lot of styles of vintage Memovox to choose from to suit your taste.
If you want to, you could just buy the master control memovox
You lose the water resistance, but gain a more wearable and thinner watch, for little over the price of the regular mariner
Just an opinion, but I think you would
have to use the alarm function A LOT to even begin to justify the price difference.
Thats the risk and probably also a "mistake", if you have to ask yourself, "why didnt i buy the alarm...."
If the difference in price wouldnt be that of a retail reverso, it would be a no-brainer for me

Glad to hear that. I am sensitive to thick watches, and 15.6mm sounds very thick.
Of course, not all measured thickness is the same. How two watches of similar dimensions wear on the wrist can vary significantly...
