I prefer SS in most watches...
...but it depends on your planned use.
For dress, gold is classic. For daily use, go for SS. There's nothing wrong with SS for a high-end watch. AP first proved that decades ago with the RO followed by PP and many others. And today, SS is more acceptable than ever and I've often heard it referred to as "the new gold" when it comes to watches...and I happen to agree.
But go for whichever "speaks" to you...you're the one who has to live with it. But I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

Normally I would say SS without hesitation! But on this particular watch… I don’t know! When I saw the RG version in the metal I got totally smitten! But like Nicolas said – either way, you can’t go wrong! GL, and please let us kno...
Congratulations!
