Here's Colonel John Glenn, next to President Kennedy in a parade, a couple of days after his February 1962 flight. The watch is by LeCoultre, and was issued to each of the Mercury Seven astronauts . . . so we are calling it the LeCoultre "Mercury 7".

Amazing that of the eight watches in the John Glenn estate sale, two of them were LeCoultres, with custom-made dials.

Fantastic and quite moving story
What great persistence and earned good fortune. I would preserve the provenance of the steel bracelet, archive it and then wear the LeCoultre with a black leather strap. Worn straps can be replaced but that bracelet is unique and historical. Best, Clive
