Pre SIHH 2012: Duometre à Quantième Lunaire 40, 5 mm.
Ok, my friends, I just received the green light to post this first piece from the 2012 JLC Collection.
For the moment, I just have the press file.
You will notice two things:
1/ The smaller size ( 40, 5 mm ) instead of the 42 mm of the previous Duometre à Q.L.
2/ The dial, which is not open at 5 and 7 o'clock, like on the 42 mm WG Duometre à Q.L.
The thickness is a tad less important ( half a millimeter ), too.
I will try to see it soon, and will come back to you... The thing is in the proportions, which has to be checked in the real.

It seems that it is a strong tendance, at JLC, for a few years, now.
And you know what? I'm very happy with that! I strongly believe that elegant watches should be a tad smaller. Best, Fernando. Nicolas.
Well, 40,5mm for a Duometre, that doesn't seem too small, don't you think?
A Master Ultra Thin Moon 39mm doesn't seem too small, either... What do you think? Best, Nicolas.
All that sounds perfectly acceptable.
However, for me under 39mm would start to be small for even a men's dress watch. Best regards, George
Personally, I see...
with the smaller dimensions that JLC has PP in their cross-hairs. This is a direct appeal to their crowd. And hopefully, the auctions will help (although I think that auctions - especially when padded - are a bit of smoke and mirrors). -Dean

Not all the brands of the Richemond group follow this trend. By far.
Surprisingly, VC goes for bigger sizes... As well as Lange. I'm like you, and for elegant watches, I do hope that this tendance will be more than ephemere. Best, Nicolas.

The little downsizing is indeed a good news to me as I have a little wrist ^^ Nevertheless, as you said, it will be interesting to see it in the flesh to see if the proportions are still as good or if the smaller dimension is maybe not leaving enough room...

New trend... pin buckle only?
Very nice piece, thank you for sharing this news. Interested to see that the strap comes with a pin buckle. Is the deployant not offered as an alternative?
Like on the WG Duometre à QL, the folding buckle is not in the menu...
But " à la carte "... Which doesn't disturb me, to say all, as I'm not a fan of this JLC folding buckle which I find very uncomfortable. But for the fans, yes, it would be a good thing to offer the free alternative. Best, Nicolas.

I am a proud owner of a duometre QL WG for some days now, actually got it last week ! and wearing it since. What I can say is that the visual proportions are just amazing. Yes this is a big watch, heavy as well ( so you always remember it under your shirt...
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big, huge, great fan of the Duometre.
I used to own the Chronograph, and loved it a lot. I have no problem with the size, 42 or 40,5 mm. What I meant was that I hope that this trend of smaller watches will be all but not ephemere. And once again, I have no problems with bog watches: The Amvow...

Playing with classics is always dangerous,and lets face it the Duometre is a modern classic despite being so young. I don t know if playing with its size is a great move,I can t make my mind up.I think the Duometre case s one of the most beautifully balac...

Since I knew the existence of this iteration, I am wondering exactly the same thing. A matter of proportions, which are harmonious on the 42 mm case, even if I find it a bit too thick. Would it be better with the 40,5 mm case? Answer soon... Best, Nicolas...

it can be ok or good.....not better I think..I love Duo as it is....think about it,The freak,Lange 1,DB25,ROak...etc..are they better in their original size or with latter proportions?

the smaller version of RO(ok for ladies....),Rolex Yachtmaster(ladies again..)...all I am saying is that the original idea of anything(watches,cars,paintings...)is difficult to beat...but lets see... Mo

Thanks for the news Nico. I have to see it in the metal because I have a first feeling which is not that good: this one seems to be a bit unbalanced when compared to the "classic" one. But I have to check my feeling. Fx
Frankly speaking, thickness is not the problem for me here.
40,5 x 13,07: I saw much worse ! And the last watch I bought is even more unbalanced on this topic. For me the main trouble comes from the subdials which now slightly cut the outer scale. In some areas, it is difficult to read the graduations. Ok, ok, it ...
