I love to see the "birth" of a watch. Great post. Next time there, please, try to obtain details about how JLC do the final regulation of a watch. I consider this the "cherry on the cake" and more information about how they do will be great. Cheers

The final adjustments of the movement on all positions, normally using some sort of "time measurement machine". Cheers (packing to Europe, did you got my PM?)

This will be complicated, as it varies from one watch to another... Therefore, if you see my picture about the minute repeater sound record, you will see that I had to blur the datas... But if you have one watch you want to know the paramaters, met me kno... 

I just learned this from looking at my Grand Seiko's certificates that they do 400 hours (17 days) on all their mechanical watches. Since the JLC talks about the 1000 hours, and that takes 41.66666 days, I suspect there must be a big room filled with wind... 

The rule is that the watchmaker cannot be the one who controls his work. Another thing is that almost ALL the watches are submitted to the 1000 Hours Control, at the exception of a very few ones, such as the Cal 101. Best, Nicolas.

I recall some discussion of the testing on my last visit to JLC in 2006, but I don't remember we got into the details as you did here. I'll feel better about banging my watch around on my wrist, knowing it's already had 20,000 small shocks before I got to...

I am dizzy, too! ;-) I think if I were actually there, my head would explode. It is fascinating that your MMR's acoustics have changed over the past four years. What are the reasons for this, if that is not to naive a question? Is this the same atelier wh... 

As you know, I used and abused of my MMR during the 2 first years... I brought it everywhere, with me, I let my friends play with it. At the end of two years, I asled JLC to check that all was ok, and to set the sound... Less loud, but richer. 2 months af... 

I recall many wonderful photos of your MMR (still my favorite version of this watch and it still gets my heart racing whenever I see photos of it), especailly the one on the Audi. Best, respo

I can't remember having been more excited when I discovered it in 2005... The concept, the look, the sound, everything on this watrch pleased me so much that, like, you, I made a promise to myself that one day, I will get one. And when it came in titanium... 

And yes while i have had the opportunity to do a comparative test of all 4 materials, and while it has to be agreed about Pt not being the best material for a striking watch, BUT there is something haunting about the sound of music that only Platinum can ...

I'll go straight for the Gyro. OMG!!! What a portfolio under one roof. HATs off to the Men and Women behind JLC. I could spend the whole week there. Thank you very much for the dizzy(nevertheless enjoyed) tour. Ed

I can just imagine the level of excitement at one of these visits for a passionate collector like yourself. It all goes by in a wink. Thanks for sharing all this information with us. The mention of the Gyro 1 or the Extreme Lab 1 always gets my heart poun... 

I almost spent all my time at the Specialités Horlogeres Workshop, when my program was much larger... Next visit will be soon, by the way. As for the Gyro I and the Extrem Lab I, it is like choosing between fine traditional watchmaking and modern, al...
