It is always hard to say who began to offer display backs on watches. But, I had the chance to meet and talk to Jean Pierre Hagmann (very well known watch and case maker in Geneva who now works for Vacheron) some months ago and he told me that he said to ... 

I feel its almost a must to have a display back. Even despite being an automatic, its a testament to show off the fine finishing that comes with watches within this segment. Even "simple" machine anglage with cotes de Geneve and pearlage is still a feast ... 

To please both, why not a hinged case back? Best, Nicolas

It would be nice if the dial was available in French, like the original - for me it would add a touch of romance (well, at least a Romance language, hehe) to the watch. Aside from that there is much to admire here, a great case, useful complication, nice ...

the black dial makes a statement of class and the new rotor is a nice touch. Personally would like one, but like my MUT Moon 39, I can't read the subdials well, and to me if there is a function or complication I can't use then I probably will pass. Still,...

however, in the old version, in which JLC turned the complication plate 180 degrees, I liked better, especially with the last 2 digits of the year embedded within the top subdial. I feel it gave it better overall balance and made it look less like the Kur...

as all is programmed to change all together with the ALONE pusher. I sold mine in WG, as if you do not use the watch for a long time (turn-over period) you have to push any missing date with the pusher. Or to put the watch on the winder. In fact, the year... 

To note, the old calibre was very accurate from second to year. Congratulations to JLC watchmakers. Patrickh

the moon phase placement below 12 looks better IMHO. I like the \'dot\' minute marker, it brings in a vintage charm ?! Do we need the \'year\' window at all, it would look more balanced ? - I would prefer not to have it, but it is a personal choice. Wonde...

..not available in French as far as I can tell from asking the London Boutique. Is that absolutely the case JLC? Shame if so. And I would still prefer it if the back tips of the hands were like the earlier version - but not a deal breaker. They are notice... 

These Perpetual Calendars were available in English, German, Italian, Spanish, and French. Like you, that is something I would really like to see. Best, Nicolas

the black dial is very cool too of course and I like it too. I used to think I should have waited for this black dial version instead of getting my silver sunburst dial boutique special edition but after looking at this in the metal, I think my silver dia...

How "robust" is the movement? This has been on my short-short list since it was released, but can anyone comment on the fragility of the 868 movement? I\'m curious how it compares to other ultra thin movements...although I know JLC is known for some of th... 

Now, if you let it fall from a table, as most of the movements, it may be problematic. But in other cases, and specifically for a daily wear, no problems. Best, Nicolas

I am a big fan - thanks for your review. I think I prefer it to the white face and the power reserve too. A PC is a bit of a grail for me...lucky you. Enjoy!
