I will go out on a limb and perhaps get into a bit of hot water for the following comments but afterall this is the PuristS 
I agree that the caliber LL100 is an incredible achievement for Montblanc. However in the end I wonder (for MB and all the other brands as well) if the purpose and motivation of creating all these in-house movements is partially for the money. You are right. There are not a lot of other watches with the specs for this price level...but the price level, at least for the LE, is high.
To create these movements for recognition, experience and bragging rights...this I understand because MB is new to the game and needs to establish itself amongst the players. MB should be proud of the LL100 and I am sure other brands are taking notice.
But in the end most new "in-house" movements from every brand are manufactured movements, created in an industrial manner. Assembled by hand of course but these not true "artisanal" products imho.

You may want to try
a croc deployant strap to keep the twins in place without too much lateral movement- on some of the third party sites you may be able to buy ones that are fluid proof or even a Panerai OEM strap will do the trick. Congratulations on your "acquisition"!

The in-house movements are of course created for multiple reasons. First the cat that Swatch/ETA plans to stop delivery. Secondly because this gives the more control over production and they're not depending on a third party. And of course also the name/f...

This means the case is polished, partly by hand, before the hardness treatment. Afterwards, and before the coating, it is cleaned by means of machine and more important chemical. This is to make sure the coating will "stick"
