You're pictures clearly display the beauty of the 127! I agree, the ideal is a 372 AND 127--both are icons.
I'm always struck by how Panerai fans (myself very much included) feel the need to create personal rules or definitions of "purity" to guide their collecting. I believe it's related to the brand's inconsistency and endless variations--the only way to decide which model to buy is by focusing on the minutiae. I love everything about the 127 but the "1950." I can fixate on that small detail because the 217 exists without it. And by advocating for the 217, I distinguish myself from other Panerai collectors--wow, this took a philosophical turn. 😳
