Panerai wearability: 40mm vs 44mm, steel vs titanium, black vs blue dial?

I am inches away from succumbing to the desire to purchase a Panerai Luminor Marina. I have decided that it has to be a leather strap. So far so good.

I have a small wrist so am tempted to go for a 40mm which limits my choice. Should I go for a titanium case PAM 282 (which should be lighter) but which comes with a blue face and in some ways is less classic or should I simply opt for the steel black faced PAM 48? I think that the Luminor GMT is the other option for a black face but would probably prefer the simplicity of the marina.

What does the forum think are the pros and cons of steel vs titanium case, leather vs steel or titanium strap and blue vs black dial etc? Is there a generally accepted greater / lesser level of desireability and therefore value later?
