Officine Panerai

a dream....

that came through after many, many years of collecting. The only small problem is in which of the forums I should place this ? Since I m a "Rolex" guy and this breathes more Rolex than Panerai I m taking my chances to place it here. If the Mods feel different and it needs to move then feel free to do so.

The history of Rolex diving watches started before the ref 6200. It was in the 40-ties and 50-ties that Rolex supplied movements and cases to Panerai. The toolwatches they created were issued for the divers of the different military branches of the Italian army.

Here is a Panerai ref 6152/1 from around 1953

The Rolex Cal. 618 (type 4) movement

The caseback with the Rolex engravings

Crownguard protection (In the background the modern version, PAM372)

The dial was made by Panerai

From the diver also came the depth gauge and compass. I also have the original strap of the watch which is not the one showing in the picture
