-so I have been in the watch hobby well over a decade and have had a variety of what I consider mid-tier watches. Nothing from the trinity but, an Omega, a Breitling, a GP, several Tudors, 3 Zeniths including a couple El Primeros as well as a sampling of other Swiss and German marques.
I acquired my first Panerai last August -a Pam 505 from as far as I can tell approximately 2013.
Panerai has received a lot of criticism the past few years ( much of it deserved)! But, from the pure interaction of a watch enthusiast and his watch -for me nothing else I have experienced even remotely compares!
I am talking about how it feels when you are winding or setting the date. It is the smoothest by far -the quick set date feature is a pleasure to operate. The screw down crown which can be a hassle is solid and catches the first time.
It feels as though you are engaging a well designed machine.
Be interested to hear if any of you guys with more modern pieces have enjoyed the same experience.
