Give is a second and maybe third thought and this might be the best SIHH ever
During bad times some brands will offer fantastic watches.
When the watch industry is in trouble they have to try harder and they need more guts.
Patek for example made exceptional watches in the 70's when the entire industry was collapsing due to the Quartz watches.
Today it is not that bad, but let's be honest... it is still bad.
Economic crisis, way too many high end watch brands, smart watches.
Anyway, it is a pleasure to see that Panerai reacts VERY well. What I saw at SIHH2017 could be the entire collection for SIHH 2017 AND 2018 AND 2019 ... heck, let's even include 2020
Let me explain why I think so.
The Bronze
Just WOW. that is gorgeous.
Personal taste but they blue looks so much nicer than the Green. And don't tell me green is more logical because the bronze case can turn green. Most, probably 85% will NEVER look green , the will just look dark brown. Look at a propeller of a boat ... these look brown after being years under water, not green. Gerald Gents was probably the first one to use bronze for a watch. it was made in the 1990's and it's called the Genfica. I have seen a few ( in real life and on pics) All of them looked everything but green.
Now if people try to hard to make it look green, the it will be green. Google 'how to patina bronze' and you will learn that you can give it almost every colour if you want to use chemical products ... which I would NOT recommend
The 687.
a hit! Many years ago people went crazy when Panerai released the 232 and 249. Both were presented in the same year. Looking back now ... the 687 was the missing one for a perfect trio of Radiomir.
The PAM700
Totally not for me! But that does not mean I can't respect them for creating such a watch. Like said, not my kind of piece but what they made is amazing and deserves a lot of respect. Seems like we don't have to look for Richard Mille or AP concept watches is you want something revolutionary. It looks and it is futuristic.
50K is muck, very much ..but if it had Richard Mille on the dial it was 200 K
The America's cup and the Regatta watches
I'm sure there are quite some fans for these watches
The new Mare Nostrum
HELL YEAH !!! Finally in a wearable size. Ans standard production, not a too rare and too expensive watch with a gorgeous Minerva movement inside.
This time it's an ETA ... so not even inhouse but who cares. A good watch, for a good price with a very trustworthy movement.
Not everything needs to be inhouse en because of that rather expensive then affordable
This watch in 42mm with a good solid ETA ... Smart choice
Those 2 232 look-a-likes
Don't know the reference and don't have enough specs yet but they do look good
The chrono flyback with 'PCYW' on the dial
Again not enough specs yet ... but guys, what a magnificent watch. Is this something like the previous 518 - 519 - 520 ?
Also in gold and also a Minerva inside ?
The 42mm diver submersible in gold
Those that were in doubt for a gold Yachtmster II rolex or even a gold submariner Rolex may be tempted to try and finally buy this gold 42mm submersible
it looks great and with 42MM it's a size 90% of the population wears.
Ans I'm sure I forgot a lot more
But hey .... what a year. Congratulations Panerai. You impressed me
Only one thing... Why aren't websites like this one and others not allowed to show everything yet ?
I hope you do realize ALL these watches are all over the social media ?
Yo know there are 600.000.000 instagram users and you'll find every new Panerai on IG
Strange that a website like this one and many others are must follow stupid embargo rules while the info is all around
But except this last observation .... what a spectacular offering
VERY WELL DONE !
