Good call...
I went for the 312 for the same reasons as well as the 1950's case, sandwich dial, cyclops-less date and tang buckle. Basically I wanted a robust daily wear watch that I wouldn't get tired of looking at and at this price point, the 312 fit the bill perfectly.

Congrats on your investment. I, too, was deciding which PAM to get and selected the 312 as well. I selected this one because I didn't need a GMT, wanted an in-house movement, wanted a clear back, and didn't want a metal band.
