Officine Panerai

Hello Nicolas and ArmisT ! Here my answer with a little delay…

… but I had to find a little time to reunite the watches and take the messures.

This matter about size aroused with the question of our dear Armis who said that 587 and 662 looked different on my wrist.

By the way, my wrist is thin at 17 cms ( aprox 7”).

I measured the cases of these watches as per the following rough drawing (you can see I’m not an engineer! Lol!) measuring from the bottom base of the case to the base of the bezel.

The height is the same in the 587 and 662 and in my 971 not shown in this post.

Also lugs are same shape. So both references 587 and 662 use identical cases.

Both watches use same P 3000 three days reserve movement but the 587 has the original two bridges employed in 2014 and the 662 the later variant with three bridges.

See pictures below:

Then I measured the 637 (crown bridge MM) against the 587 and was surprised the measure same height

Difference is in the shape of lugs. 637 has a downward more pointed shape.

To end my study I compared the 637 with the Big Classic Pam 372.

As suspected both watches share same case and lugs and case height:

My 372 also is powered by the old two bridge version of the P3000 movement.

Last but not least I include some pictures of all four watches on my wrist.

I still think that the type of leather of the straps has something to do with the way the watches “seat” on the wrist and also the shape of lugs.

Of course the shape and thickness of the individual wrist makes a difference!
