The other strap wasn’t as supple or comfortable.
Try rolling it. If a watch strap is thicker, this helps a lot. Can make it look a little more worn but not a huge deal. I have to do this with most of my padded straps but it makes them super comfy.

But as you underscored, it is meant to be big. It was never comically big, and now with a better strap it is actually fun and cool again.👍🏽
