Officine Panerai

Usually we always talk about which PAM we wished we bought. Let's take the opposite approach: Have you ever regretted buying a specific Panerai? If so, which one and why? Post pictures too please. I'll start this thread by saying yes I wish I didn't buy m...  

I found out that, Panerai and yellow/rose gold, don't mix I even tried to sell the 197 only to discover that is, practically, unsellable (unless you're happy with second-hand-wrappings-of-Rocher-Ferrero in payment)... :-) Ciao

I also found out the hard way that gold colour case just don't look & feel right on a Panerai. I still like it. It's just that among all my other white metal panerai, I found less motivation to strap on that 289. But then again, some people will go as...  

I think they are aesthetical, gorgeous. If you can wear them losing their presence (I hope you can get what I am trying to say) then you have great companions. Personally I enjoy both PAM 140 and PAM 289, of course I do not compare them with any Panerai G... 

in all fairness, I have a strong bias against yellow gold metal. What I noticed is that for Panerai, even their PG/RG were quite yellowish, until recently. The only reason for me back then, to get the 289 was that elusive brown dial. Since then, I've actu... 

contrasted here with WG. i think precious metal PAMs are great...and i refuse to buy the often quoted "historic" mumbo jumbo talk.... YG and RG PAMS are super cool...utility watch warehoused in precious metal, why not? even the humble rolex has them in go...  

in regards to the 197, to my eye at least, it is a rare instance of the exception. The radiomir works well with ROSE gold, at least for me, and the hobnail dial underscores the very distinctiveness of the model. Just love love love the 197! J

as long as we learned from the lesson, there's no point regretting. Case in point, I somehow wished that I never bought that PAM289 but guess what? If I didn't buy it, I would continue to have the itch to try on a RG/PG Panerai and I'll end up w/ another ... 

Till mid 2000 many were worried if not horrified by the 44 and greater mm cases, whilst badly attracted by the phenomenon, for many the safe approach was the 40mm, n othing wrong with that, this was for many the way to jump in the waggon. Most of the past... 

I was actually considering a nice PreA9 OP6500 and a good friend offered me his really nice 9A.. So I thought I should be able to settle with 9A with about half the price of the PreA9... I was really enthusiastic the day I got it but at the end of that da... 

I rather regret having let go my first Panerai a PAM117 - I still miss that one badly. A watch I wish I'd never bought was the AP diver, that just didn't talk to me when I finally got it on my wrist. Actually, it didn't even whisper... In the end though, ...

But I wish I got a 335 instead of my 317K. The lack of a date window means the watch stays unworn most of the time.

It's perfectly ok to prefer a watch with date window :) Cheers, Anthony

I suffer what you suffer and suffer some more when you suffer more but hope the suffer never stop because then I will suffer alone. That doesn't make any sense, does it.

... Why suffer for nothing. Suffer for something... I wish I never got that PAM 184 because a) it doesn't even look like a Panerai ; b) it comes with two wrist-scarring crowns instead of just one and c) it never ran that great. And so, the 184 now belongs... 

Because I thought I would love it, and then I had some problem with tritium and visibility and let it go... Then I bought the 29M, because with the Luminova I thought that this time I would really love it since legibility would be no problem even at night... 

It is the one brand I have never wanted. I have been tempted, but... being a conservative, classical taste guy... I could never bite. To me, Panerai is 'responsible' for the MASSIVE watch trend. However, like IWC, they have a sincere and authentic history... 

May sound like a heresy here but while beautiful in pictures it turned out to be too big for my wrist... Looked plain wrong. I had to stick to 44 mm PAMs since then. Shame.
