It's not often we get to see micro-rotors in automatic movements, but Panerai has one in the P.4000 movement which is housed in the 45mm PAM572 (steel), PAM573 (red gold), and PAM619 (titanium).
I tried one on the wrist at the Panerai La Jolla Boutique last Friday and am smitten by it. I wish it didn't say "Automatic" at 6 o'clock though
Nevertheless, it's a perfect fit for my 6.75" wrist - not too thin and not too small given I'm used to wearing 47mm Luminors. And a cool thing about this micro-rotor is it's a bi-directional rotor, so it winds in both directions. Most watches that have micro-rotors are uni-directional winding.
Below is a picture of the PAM573 red gold. Looks great on the wrist doesn't it?
Cheers,
Anthony
PS. And a question to Panerai - why did you have to call the titanium version a PAM619? Why not a PAM571 or PAM574 so we can have all 3 models in chronological order? It doesn't make any sense...
