Officine Panerai

Over the years as a collector I was not really intrigued by the Pam world, I guess with time my curiosities grew. So I want to know which model would be a good starter? Also which Pam was your first model?

If I was starting again I would start with the 000 or the 005. Both represent what Panerai is all about. They also have the classic logo and look good with numerous straps. Bill

First the 312 is a great looking piece. Cost would be around $7,000. It is a contemporary model For most collectors like myself and let me qualify this by saying I have 11 Panerai's, the historic look is prefered by most, but not all. The 000 costs around... 

you like the most and can afford. Panerai models are so many, so diverse and yet so similar, in their essence. Which one do YOU like most? Having said that, my first Panerai was a 249 California Cheers - Sergio

Mare Nostrum Slytech with this awesome smoot bezel, ref 5218-304... Now, in a friendly home, but never forgotten. A good first model? It all depends on what you like. I'd say a Luminor or a Rad base. Pam 000, or Pam 232 or 249. If you can put the trigger ...

I like the Slytech more, though this one's not to be sneezed at. When I grow up (or rich) I'll buy myself one.....hahahaha Ciao - Sergio

The thing is that the Slytech with the smooth bezel is closer to the original than the 301/ A. I wish you the best to get one, the Mare is a pure marvel! Best, Nicolas

Which year did you make your first purchase? Quite unusual for a first piece Panerai IMO...I bet most would op for a Luminor. Good foresight Best to you my friend.

It was in 1997 or 1998... It was a Logo Pre V. The time to look for one, and I got the Mare. In fact, at this moment, I was more fascinated by the Mare than the Logo. Now, I'm euqally fascinated. Best, Nicolas
