my 3rd sm300 from 1964 and 2nd 165.024 arrived this morning in the post from darkest peru. i did mention it in passing a week or so ago and put some of the sellers pics up. its not really my aim to own every SM300 from 1964, honest guv. i bought this from...  

One of the things I love about the restored SM300's is the torch-bright lume. Even in bright sunlight, you can actually see the lume working. A piece of advice, don't trust her near water.....even restored, she's still 45 years old. TLC is the phase to li... 

...the sealing surfaces and o-ring grooves are not pitted or damaged, if the seals are replaced correctly, there should be no concern with any water resistance, well, not to any recreational depths...

....as my SM300 was restored by Omega Bienne. A brief search or scroll down will give you a good indication of my reasons for caution. Primarily my comment was an inside remark as Graham noted the 'TLC' required by these old ladies. ;o)

Apologies for the late reply. I completely agree. You were the poor unfortunate whose SM300 fogged?? Fortunately, I have a watch-shop that will test my watches to 60m. Which is, to me, plenty enough for peace of mind for the depths I'd ever take them to. ... 

I would have voted with those who advise to service the movement but leave the rest as is, but since you have already decided... Ginger

Congratulations! This is a gorgeous pickup, and while I don't collect vintage timepieces I do drool over your photos of great watches like this! These classic Omegas are so versatile -- they look fresh and modern even 40+ years into their lives. Cheers, D... 

Graham, you're indeed too greedy, my friend. As for your question, my advice would be to not touch the dial, hands and bezel, and to improve the WR of your watch... Just make it Water Resistant. Then you'll be albe to enjoy it a lot, without " destroying ... 

one day my friend you'll find a 64 in the condition you require. this particular watch deserves a restore. it has been heavily used and needs some work. i'll be looking for a nice strap and might attempt a Nato to match dial and lume. best G
