. . . of rejuvenation, especially when the hero is an Omega! I was at a local vintage dealer a few days ago, perusing his stash of '70s classics, including two 911 Flightmasters and a 176.005 Seamaster. All were fairly worn and nary a crisp edge, other th... 

I was nervous about the case restoration as nothing would have been worse than to send it away and receive it back in a worse state with rounded edges etc. But rest assured Omega Bienne can work wonders with their CNC machines etc. Here is a pic of it bef...

. . . as I've just spent a tidy sum on the Zenith, which pretty much covers this category for my purposes. The Kevster once said, in his inimitable fashion, that "every man needs a chrono." Agreed, but more than one is difficult to accommodate under prese... 

Even a basket case 910 will cost you more to buy and fix than buying a nice one to begin with. You never see them going cheap enough to justify. Feel the same way about vintage SM300s. Even more so with classic cars (I've learned my lessons there )

. . . but you know my modus operandi: any vintage worth keeping gets the full-on treatment from the get-go, even if technically unnecessary . . . it's a matter of having a baseline that's most important to my way of thinking. The Mk II that's now in your ... 

you do the right thing Art. have it serviced and in tip top condition before you start wearing it. you know where you are and how reliable its going to be. G

a really lovely piece now. You sometimes do hear horror stories about Omega's refurbishment of vintage watches but I have had no direct experience - I don't suppose you'd mention the order of cost for all this - or is that something we don't do on this fo... 

to restore these late 60s, early 70s large cased Seamasters, Speedmasters and Flightmasters. It's great that they do.

For many of our older watches. Besides the case polish, how much else was replaced on this?

By my count that is 3 seals/gaskets, crystal, crown and stem, that octagonal spring (bezel spring?), three gears, two tiny screws, that thing that looks like a spur on a cowboy boot (somebody with watch making knowledge throw me a bone here???) that white...  

Primarily just the basics.

That sunburst finish is just beautiful. From what I understand, not just anyone can achieve this look. And the way the radiating brush strokes continue over each edge perfectly - - really well done. Not some hatchet ScotchBrite pad job. Former glory, achi...  

Not many have one outside of Omega service.
