There was a predecessor made in 1969 but this one dates 1972. Gorgeous step dial and radial minute track. Apollo shaped subdial hands for better legibility. Sandblasted case and bracelet to not make reflections. White dial to not absorb heat. So many more cool details.

That is the Speedmaster that intrigues me the most.
Hundreds (?) of special and re-editions, and Omega still does not deliver the best of all Speedies

Alaska IV was not a bad attempt for a re-edition but could have been done so much better and truer to its original in my opinion...

Alaska is my favorite among the various limited editions: the dial, the hands (the hours and minutes hands have a true "phantom effect"!), the secret behind its development and, moreover, the strong link with a real watch prototype... It has a lot to offe...

Wish that they had sandblasted the case and bracelet like the original. But a very appealing piece! Thanks for sharing!
