Back from Zermatt, here are better pics of my Speedmaster White Gold Moon Phase, ref...

 

....145.0055. This watch was produced between 1999 and 2005. It has a 18K white gold case (guys, this watch tells me: there is nothing as cool as white gold cases!!!!), a silver dial, calibre 1866. It is said - according to some Omega watch blogs, citing E-Mail exchange with Omega - to have been produced only 285 times, even though it was never designed as a "limited edition".

It is one of those watches where every picture you take does not true to the watch. Look at the steel blue parts. Look at the hour indicies. The "Medallion-Case-Back" in 18K white gold! The Hallmarks. You have to see it, you have to hold it in your hands (the weight of white gold), I just love it. En - hey - I am the rusty guy: my particular watch is from 2005, so last year of production and that means for my standards: this is a new-born, a baby, the Benjamin of my collection.

Many thanks for it! Indeed, this watch is the RAREST Speedmaster ever produced in the world with her 285 specimen! It is needless to say, why she is a real limited model, if I compare with the other Speedmaster 'limited edition' of 9999 pieces worldwide.....

1) The production run of 285 is not an official number, so it needs to be seen cautiously 2) There are clearly Speedmasters out there that are officially confirmed rarer i.e. Produced in lower numbers 3) There are watches of this reference out there with ...

many thanks for your comments! Well, I didn\'t know that fact, that the watch has also a 77 million serial case number! Very, very interesting! Mine has a 48 million serial number, so it must be really produced in 1999! It means, that mine was really lyin...

Haven\'t been to Zermatt in a long time. Almost went this year but plans changed last moment. I look forward to going back. That background is just wonderful.

why, is a white gold case so cool? Because of the weight? Because of its warm color? What did you have in mind when you wrote that? For me white gold has a really nice color - at least if there is enough Palladium mixed in. But it is also a very soft mate... 

Hmmmmm, good one MCG. I think that for me personally, it is indeed the tick warmer color over steel....

...combined with the weight and the "understatement". You will not see me wearing 18k yellow or red gold stuff. And, I agree: it is more vulnerable to scratches than steel but: my watches survive the office job usually un-harmed. On this parti...

(is there a perfect watch anyway... ?! ;-) Another cool thing that I did not see before on a Speedmaster: the Skeleton-Second-hand, which I find pretty important to appreciate the nice moon...!
