Black dials, show me yours.
Hi all.
Following Stefan Ma's story, I took an eBay tour today and checked to see if there is any good, genuine black dial left out there, unfortunately, I've found none of them is original. I mean the ones that look nice aren't and the ugly ones are.
Black dials are rare and the ones that survived thru the years until today are much rarer. That's why we should be extremely skeptical when we see a nice one.
This one is the best that I have in my collection. You can see it's not shiny anymore and there are signs of deterioration.
Please join in and show yours. (Guilloché black dials don't count because they were made from different material and last much longer than normal black dials)

i used to own a black dial connie years ago but no pics. i have a pic of a previously owned Ranchero, but i know your after connies and seamasters from the 50's. i dont expect there will be many pics coming forward due to their uncommonness. Graham

are even more uncommon than the non-guilloche black ones. Yes, they may be better preserved but condition (as well as originality) are both very important to me.

Yes, you are correct. The guilloche dials are much rarer than the normal ones and last much longer. That's why we will not see anyone who can come up with a normal black dial that equals to yours because they are the same in color but different in breed. ...
